  8. Buffett Hotel
    $9.99

"Buffet Hotel" contains 12 great new songs, and also includes a 24-page booklet printed on recycled paper. The CD was influenced by a trip to the West African "Festival In The Desert," a music event that takes place annually near Timbuktu. It was in Bamako that Jimmy discovered Buffet Hotel, an old colonial era train station/hotel, which was where the music scene flourished in Mali in the 60's. This collection includes a few songs that Jimmy premiered during the 2009 summer tour, including "Summerzcool" and "A Lot To Drink About." Guest artists on the album include Sonny Landreth, Jake Shimabukuro, Cedric Burnside, Steve "Lightnin'" Malcolm and Toumani Diabate, and was produced by long-time Coral Reefers Mike Utley and Mac McAnally.

Jimmy's audio commentary about the songs on Buffet Hotel is available here!

  9. Jimmy Buffett Take The Weather With You
    $9.99

Take The Weather With You returns Buffett back to his country foundation with breezy ballads, interpretations of alt-country songs, a version of Merle Haggard's "Silver Wings" and mariachi horns in "Cinco De Mayo In Memphis." A tribute to the historic bars along the Gulf Coast in "Bama Breeze" is flavored with sublime Southern riffs, and Buffett fulfilled a dream of playing with Mark Knopfler, who wrote and guests on "Whoop De Doo."

Buffett reinvents Mary Gauthier's "Wheel Inside The Wheel" with swampy rhythms crafted by Lafayette, Louisiana slide guitarist Sonny Landreth. "That song summed up the French Quarter when I was 18 years old," Buffett said. "Without realizing it, I went to my roots on this record. It's not a stretch for me to do country music."

On Take The Weather With You, he takes a philosophical look at the devastation of the Crescent City in the ballad "Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On," which Buffett wrote with former drummer Matt Betton. "When the storm hit New Orleans, I was performing at Wrigley Field in Chicago" said Buffett. "I go back to the emotions I was feeling on stage there during the biggest show of my life. That spilled over into this record. People still don't understand the devastation along the Gulf Coast. I was angry and started writing about it, but Matt sent me the first makings of 'Move On' and that calmed me down."

Take The Weather With You combines a variety of styles and sounds from Nashville, New Orleans and Key West. It's a smooth sail for Buffett.

  10. Jimmy Buffett License to Chill
    $7.98

Jimmy Buffett's new License to Chill is a collection of some of the singer/songwriter's favorite songs. The man who routinely packs arenas with tens of thousands of merry revelers occasionally slips unannounced into bars to play. And when he does, he draws from a different repertoire than "Margaritaville" and the rest of the songs that have made him so famous.

His "bar gig" songs, as he calls them, include Jerry Garcia's "Scarlet Begonias," the Hank Williams classic "Hey Good Lookin'," Don Gibson's chestnut "Sea of Heartbreak," Guy Clark's "Boats to Build and the Leon Russell tropical charmer "Back to the Island." These Buffett favorites have never found their way onto any of his recordings. Until now.

Those five tunes, as well as five Buffett originals and contributions from such acclaimed songwriters as John Hiatt, Bruce Cockburn and Bill Withers, among others, complete the CD. Once he'd assembled the song stack, he called country superstars Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Martina McBride, George Strait and Clint Black and asked if they'd like to record with him in Key West. Additional collaborations with the legendary Bill Withers and songstress Nanci Griffith soon followed. Jimmy's seven solo performances round out the 16-song set.
